Charles E. Fromage

Today, we look at the wine of France and also the cheese, also of France. To begin we must go back to our great king, Charles I, so called because he was the first to be named Charles. He was bald.

Because he encourage so much the kindly cows and goats of France to make much good cheese he is known today as “Carolus Emperator Fromage.” We honor him with stamps, on coin, and — naturalmente! — by the face pressed deep in great cheese wheel. The little French boys and girls do love to play at the delightful cafes named after him where there are many games and every cheese.
